Basic Rules for Omaha

Hi-loOma Omaha Hi-lo is a variation of poker where each player starts with a hand of four cards. To form the best five-card poker hand and the best five-card low hand, each player MUST use a specific combination of five cards: any two from their hand and any three from the board (community cards).

Structure for Blinds and Bets

Information Regarding Omaha Hi-lo

• The best hand in Omaha Hi-lo requires a specific set of cards to be used.
  Typically, Omaha Hi-Lo will have a qualifier for the low hand, which means that for a low hand to qualify, it must have five unpaired cards that are all lower than a specific rank. The pot is won exclusively by the best high hand if no qualifying low hand exists, for instance, an eight or better.
• Each player has the opportunity to compete for and win both the Hi and Lo hands in Omaha Hi-lo.
• You may play the same card or cards from your hand. Both the Hi and Lo hands may be formed using the same card(s) from your hand, or they may each be formed using a different card.

Game Modifications

No Limit: In a no limit poker structure, there is no cap on the size of bets. The stakes at a player's table may be bet at any time. The action is initiated by blinds/antes, just like in limit games.

Pot Limit: A player may bet up to the amount that is already in the pot of that hand in a pot limit game, similar to no limit poker.
